There are many aspects to public speaking - writing a speech, preparing the speech, making the speech. And there is the emotion that stops many people for making a speech - public speaking anxiety. Although no-one is born with a fear of public speaking it is very common and can prevent people from being able to give speech and stop them from reaching their full potential.
Public speaking and presentation skills have many applications beyond speech making. They can be used anywhere that any form of oral communication takes place - over the phone, webinars, private conversation. It helps to develop self confidence which is useful in any form of oral communication to get across ideas and information.
Public speaking anxiety is experienced my most people when they are to make a speech.
